One of my goals this year was to take on more fitness classes that would get me excited about working out. I believe it is important to change your routine every so often so that you are exercising all the different parts of your body.
The truth is that most people forget that stretching is key! Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. A great way to stretch is by doing pilates.
Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength (abs baby) and muscle balance. It also is a great way to relieve stress as it is a slower workout that focuses on connecting the mind and body.
This was my workout attire for my pilates class. My black Lulu Lemon bra with my Alo Yoga leggings. Perfect for Pilates! Scroll down to shop the look!
New York Pilates is a pilates studio with multiple locations (Bowery, SoHo, West Village, & Montauk) that offers music driven small group reformer classes as well as privates that shape and sculpt. I love their studios because of how clean, modern and chic they are. The vibes really set the tone for the workout.
I especially love the open windows that allow the sunlight to beam through. So relaxing and really allows you to mentally escape.
After teaching privately for nearly a decade founder, Heather Anderson, opened New York Pilates in 2013 to bring her expertise and progressive style to the downtown scene.
You can check out NYP’s site to learn more about the badass instructors & their stories!
Also, check out their site to see the different types of classes they offer. If you are a new to pilates make sure to sign up for one of their beginner classes to get yourself acquainted with the machinery. Eventually you can take on their more challenging classes! I love their “Abs, Arms & Ass” class!
These pictures shown in this post are from their Bowery location. Love the set up so much! They have a cute bar where you can munch and drink before heading into class.
For new clients they offer 3 reformer classes for $90! You can also buy a single reformer class for $40. be sure to visit their site to check out all the different pricing options!
